Universal PDI dan ISP (Univ PDI&ISP)

Univ PDI&ISP adalah downloader yang diproduksi oleh ADP Product. Univ PDI&ISP ini dapat digunakan untuk download program ke ATxmega, AVR dan MCS51 produksi dari ATMEL. Univ PDI&ISP merupakan downloader mikrokontroler xmega paling murah hingga saat tulisan ini dibuat. Xmega adalah mikro keluarga baru dari AVR. mikro ini menawarkan kecepatan dan fitur yang lebih dibanding anggota keluarga AVR yang lain. Dari sisi harga, xmega juga menawarkan harga yang lebih murah dari megaAVR ataupun tinyAVR.

Kendala selama ini adalah masalah download program ke mikro xmega. Mikro xmega menggunakan interface PDI (Program and Debug Interface) sedangkan anggota keluarga AVR yang lain menggunakan interface SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface). Untuk downloader SPI cukup banyak tersedia semisal UnivISP, USBASP, dll. Bahkan bikin sendiri juga bisa. Sedangkan untuk downloader PDI sampai hari ini harus menggunakan minimal Atmel AVRISP mkII (asli dari ATMEL), yang harganya di Indonesia Rp510.000,-.

Mengapa harus ganti dari SPI ke PDI?
Teknologi baru tentu menawarkan lebih, begitu juga PDI. PDI menawarkan kecepatan download program ke mikro yang lebih cepat dari SPI. SPI memerlukan 5 kabel interface, yaitu; MISO, MOSI, SCK, RST dan GND, sedangkan PDI hanya memerlukan 3 kabel interface, yaitu; PDI, RST dan GND. Untuk keuntungan tersebut ATMEL merubah interface download pada keluarga AVR ke PDI.

PIN Univ PDI&ISP 
Univ PDI&ISP menyediakan 5 PIN untuk interface programmer ke mikro kontroler, satu konektor USB dan 2 PIN kelengapan jika dibutuhkan. 2 PIN tersebut adalah Vcc dan xtal1.

Univ PDI&ISP sebagai downloader megaAVR, tinyAVR, classicAVR atau MCS51

2PIN yang lain adalah PIN-PIN kelengkapan, artinya jika anda membutuhkan dapat digunakan. PIN-PIN tersebut dari perakitan memang tidak disertakan header untuk mempertahankan kepraktisan. Univ PDI&ISP dapat masuk ke kantong baju anda dengan mudah, tetapi jika PIN-PIN tersebut dipasang maka Univ PDI&ISP akan tersangkut dikantong anda :).

PIN Vcc adalah PIN yang menyediakan tegangan VCC 5.25V-4.4V yang terhubung langsung dari sumber Vcc USB. PIN xtal1 adalah PIN yang menyediakan external clock 2.5MHz. External clock ini dapat digunakan jika fuse mikrokontroler AVR tersetting untuk external clock. Dengan kata lain sumber clock ini dapat digunakan sebagai napas buatan jika mikrokontroler mati suri :). Caranya adalah dengan menghubungkan PIN ini dengan PIN xtal1 pada mikrokontroler.

Jangan lupa xmega mempunyai tegangan kerja 1.6V-3.6V.

SENSOR ADXL ACCELEROMETER UP TO 16g (KODE S101A)

Description:

• This ADXL345 is dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock, also well suited to measures the static acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications.Its high resolution (4 mg/LSB) enables measurement of inclination changes less than 1.0°.

• The new version adds 2 standoff holes as well as an extra decoupling capacitor. This ADXL345 is a small, thin, low power, 3-axis accelerometer with high resolution (13-bit) measurement at up to ±16 g. Digital output data is formatted as 16-bit twos complement and is accessible through either a SPI (3- or 4-wire) or I2C digital interface.

• Various special sensing functions are provided. Activity and inactivity sensing detect the presence or lack of motion and if the acceleration on any axis exceeds a user-set level. Tap sensing detects single and double taps. Free-fall sensing detects if the device is falling. All these functions can be mapped to one of two interrupt output pins. An integrated, patent pending 32-level first in, first out (FIFO) buffer can be used to store data to minimize host processor intervention. Low power modes enable intelligent motion-based power management with threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement at extremely low power consumption.
